A 59-year-old man who left his wallet containing £160 on a Stagecoach bus has expressed his gratitude to an employee who returned it to him the same day after he searched 50 vehicles at the company’s depot in Northampton.
Jeff Lambert was returning to his home in Shutlanger, near Towcester, on Monday night carrying a large amount of cash after a visit to Northampton.
Mr Lambert said he knew he was on the last bus that evening so he managed to get a lift from a friend to the Stagecoach bus depot in Rothersthorpe Industrial Estate in Northampton.
He said: “The staff at the depot made such a fantastic effort to help me. Despite it being the end of his shift one bus inspector searched about 50 vehicles and found my wallet.
“He wouldn’t accept any money from me but I just wanted to show my gratitude.”
