Former Strictly Come Dancing favourite Robin Windsor has been unveiled as a judge for this year’s Strictly Northampton.
The dancer, who left the hit BBC1 show this year, will be giving his verdict on this year’s batch of celebrities from the town in the show at Royal & Derngate on Saturday November 21.
The show, sponsored by Aspers Casino, is produced by Step By Step Dance School. Founder Andrzej Mialkowski has also revealed that the hosts this year will be Good Morning Britain weather presenter, Laura Tobin, and radio presenter Mark Dean, from Inspiration FM and BBC Northampton.
Robin Windsor joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing in 2010 and performs around the world with his professional partner, Kristina Rihanoff, who also stars in the show. Their latest production is Puttin’ On The Ritz included the most famous song and dance moments of the last 50 years of the golden age of Hollywood.
Laura Tobin is well known to Strictly Northampton audiences having previously performed as a contestant in the show, which is now in its sixth year, as well as presenting the children’s event. She reached the final in 2012 with her dance partner, Jonathan Hakwins, and says she had a fantastic time, dancing to Louis Armstrong’s Jeepers Creepers with its nod to the weather.
Laura, who joined Daybreak in 2012, grew up in Northampton with her twin brother, Mark, and was a past pupil at Duston Upper School.
Mark Dean is born and bred in Northampton and is a presenter on Inspiration FM and BBC Radio Northampton. From an early age Mark enjoyed dancing at house parties for family and friends. At junior school he later developed a love for country dancing music and with several of his peers whom went on to represent his school at a regional showcase.
As he got older Mark continued dancing with a couple of Street Dance Groups from Northampton - Breakdancing ( Reflex Crew) to House Music & Jazz Fusion ( Sonik 5) – and found himself going all over the UK and abroad to dance against other competitors.
In 2008 Mark was a finalist in BBC Radio Northampton Strictly Dancing and lost out by one point in the final.
