Students at Northampton Academy are celebrating today after receiving their GCSE results with a record number of students achieving five or more A* and A grades.
The number of students achieving A*-C grades in English has increased by 10 per cent to 69 per cent while 59 per cent of students achieved these grades in Maths.
There were impressive results in a number of challenging academic subjects including physics and biology where 100 per cent of students achieved A*-C grades and chemistry where 95 per cent of students achieved these grades.
There was also a strong showing in modern foreign languages with 79 per cent of students achieving A*-C grades in Spanish and 77 per cent achieving these grades in German.

“It is also pleasing to see impressive performances in science and modern foreign languages.
“I congratulate all the students who have achieved the results they were hoping for and look forward to welcoming them to our growing and flourishing Sixth Form.
“I would also like to thank our staff for their hard work, commitment and enthusiasm.”
These results build on last week’s A-level success which saw a third of all entries achieve A* to B grades.”
