An epilepsy sufferer bidding to raise £95,000 for a life-changing operation in the United States is hosting a garage sale at her home in Northampton today to help with the fund.
Leanne Lyon, 41, of Woodhill Road, Duston, is desperately trying to reach the target so she can receive a special type of keyhole surgery in America to remove a benign tumour from her brain, which has caused her almost daily seizures since a young age.
Today (Sunday, September 21) the mother-of-two will be selling everything from shoes, clothes and DVDs to add to the surgery fund.
She said: “My illness is not life threatening, but it does ruin my life.
“I’ve got two young children and I have to have carers to look after me.
“I know we have a long way to go to raise the money - but when I look at how much other people have raised, there’s no reason why we can’t do this.”
The garage sale is set to start at 11am at 27 Woodhill Rise, Duston, NN5 6SQ, and will continue throughout the day.
Mrs Lyon, who has only just started her fundraising drive and has around £1,300 so far, is hoping to set up an official donations website for her cause soon.
