A boy was forced to run away after a group of grown men tried to take his phone and money as the youngster walked to school in Northampton.

Northamptonshire Police is appealing for witnesses following the attempted robbery in Barnwell Road, Kingsthorpe, Northampton.

The incident happened shortly after 8am on Wednesday morning, May 13.

A group of about five men were walking behind the boy and, as he stopped to let them pass, they confronted him and demanded his phone and money.

The boy said he did not have either and ran away. As he ran he saw a man walking his dog and a black BMW.

A police spokesperson said the force is trying to trace the dog walker and the BMW driver, or anyone else who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.
