Nineteen traveller caravans have left a grass verge near an industrial estate five days after they were spotted in Northampton.

The group appeared in the Sixfields area last Friday then moved to Kings Heath, off Gladstone Road.

They have now left the latter site following work by the Countywide Traveller Unit (CTU) to apply for a court summons after the travellers ignored a ‘direction to leave’ notice.

It is understood they moved on late Wednesday afternoon.

Steve Wilkinson, of the Northamptonshire CTU, said: “We have noted they are no longer at the site and, as far as we know, they have left the county.”
