Four people, including one in Northampton, have been arrested as part of the focus on rape and sexual offences in the county.

The arrested were made following the execution of three warrants, in Northampton, Burton Latimer and in Kettering.

As a result of the warrants three men were arrested, one from each address. They were arrested on suspicion of possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

All three have been bailed pending further investigation.

A man from Milton Keynes has also been arrested on suspicion of historic child sex offences.

Officers also seized computer equipment.

Detective Sergeant Liz Ansell, who led the investigation, said: “We continue to encourage victims of violence and sexual assault to come forward to report offences.

“I’d like to reassure them that we will thoroughly investigate each and every allegation and put all our efforts into bringing offenders to justice.

“No matter how historic the offence, we will conduct a full inquiry.

“Sex abuse includes downloading and distributing indecent images of children.

“Anybody who takes part in this type of activity can be sure that we will find them, and should await a knock on the door from one of our officers.”

During this week, police forces across the country have been running targeted campaigns focussing on improving how they communicate how they deal with rape and sexual offences.

Northamptonshire started the campaign last week by encouraging victims of violence and sexual assault to come forward and report offences and get the help and specialist support they need.
