Former Saints star Ben Cohen opens new KidsAid building

Former Saints and England star Ben Cohen has opened the new KidsAid House in Northampton.

Cohen, who recently starred in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, was invited to the charity’s new town centre facilities and shown around before cutting a ribbon to officially open the building.

KidsAid provides support for children who have suffered abuse, bereavement, bullying and family problems

He said: “I think the facilities here are KidsAid are fantastic, it’s great there’s somewhere like this for kids to be able to go to and express themselves.

“We deal a lot with anti bullying and unfortunately there are kids who get hurt emotionally and physically and sadly, repair needs to take place.

“You can’t put a price on what they do here.”

Cohen is a campaigner against homophobia and bullying and formed the StandUp foundation.

KidsAid chairman Nicholas Griffin said: “We moved in recently into KidsAid house and just refurnished it so that we can provide therapy for children who get referred to us.

“We see children who have been affected by traumas of all sorts, abuse, family break ups and who are left emotionally upset

“We try through expressive therapies to help them to express their hurt so that we can help them.”
