A former Northamptonshire shop owner who admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin has been given a suspended jail sentence.
Sukhvinder Thind, aged 34, gave the contact details of a drug dealer to an undercover officer who came into his shop Bobby’s Convenience Store, in Silver Street, Wellingborough.
Northampton Crown Court heard the incident happened on January 27 and was part of Operation Fever, Northamptonshire Police’s crackdown on class A drug dealing.
The court heard that the shop has since been sold and Thind no longer works there.
His Honour Judge Timothy Smith, sentencing, said: “When you were in your shop you directed an undercover officer to someone you knew dealt drugs.
“The supply of Class A drugs is evil and a menace for society.”
Thind, of Eastfield Road, Wellingborough, was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for a year. He must also complete 225 hours unpaid work and pay court costs of £550.
