Former Northampton charity clerk facing fraud charges

A former charity clerk appeared in front of magistrates facing four charges of fraud by abuse of position.

Theressa Morrisroe, 50, of Talbot Road, Northampton entered no plea at a hearing today (Thursday).

It is alleged that she, while employed as the purchase ledger clerk for the The Motor Neurone Disease Association, ‘dishonestly abused that position’ in an attempt gain £85,776 on one occasion and £14,760 on another between 2010 and 2013.

She also faces two charges related to her employment as a purchase ledger clerk for of Phoenix IT Group PLC, where she is alleged to have dishonestly abused her position intending to gain £17,532.59 and £6,490.80 between 2013 and 2014.

She was bailed under the condition she does not contact any staff or volunteer members of The Motor Neurone Disease Association or Phoenix IT, and is due to appear again at Northampton Crown Court on November 28.
