The first boater has sailed in to a new 141-berth marina at Earls Barton.
Manager for White Mills Marina Chris Dixon had the honour of being the first to sail his narrowboat into and moor up at the new marina on the River Nene on Friday (November 20).
Aboard his 58in narrowboat named Bees Knees, Mr Dixon said: “To be able to sail into a brand new marina is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and it certainly was a very special moment.
“I am now looking forward to welcoming boating enthusiasts to White Mills and establishing it as a first class facility for boaters along the River Nene.”
With 141 berths all secured to floating pontoons, White Mills Marina can accommodate narrowboats, wide beams and cruisers and offers all the essential services that boaters expect from a new modern marina.
The marina is in Grendon Road, Earls Barton, and is located at Lock Nine on the River Nene.

Planning permission to develop the marina was granted last September and it is hoped that the marina will be able to open to the public once some final work is completed.
