A short films festival for Northamptonshire moviemakers will take place over an entire weekend.

Award-winning Film Northants will take place on October 10 and 11 at the Errol Flynn Filmhouse and will feature horror, thrillers, dramas family and community shirt as well as feature-length films.

The event will comprise an Under 16s and an Over 16s category of five-minute shorts.

Festival chair Dr Lily Canter said: “We are now in our eigth year and we can see the appetite for making and watching films in the county is growing and growing.

“We are responding to the filmmaking community which is making a diverse range of short, not-so-short and feature-length films and giving all of these an opportunity to shine, rather than just the sub-five minute entries.”

Martin Sutherland, chief executive of the Errol Flynn, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting the awards for a second year and look forward to seeing it expanded into a whole weekend of screenings, celebrating the wealth of local talent there is in film-making.”
