A 61-year-old runner who died after she was involved in a collision with a car on the A508 near Northampton has been named.

Mary Davies, of Longford Avenue, Little Billing, was among a group of runners who were crossing the road from a bridleway when the collision occurred.

The collision, which involved a Vauxhall Astra, happened at about 8.30pm on Wednesday night, on the stretch of road about 300m north of the Brampton Lane roundabout.

Ms Davies was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Northamptonshrie Police spokesman said a 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in relation to the collision. He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
