Family fun day at Far Cotton Rec in Northampton by NN4eight to raise money for Daisy Chain charity

NN4eight is hosting a family fun day in Northampton raising money for the Daisy Chain Club.

The charity day is taking place on Saturday July 11 on Far Cotton Recreation Ground and in Queen Eleanor Academy from noon to 5pm, with live music continuing until 8.30pm.

One of the organisers, Daniel Jwanczuk, said: “We hope to see many families at Rec Festival again this year. This has become a very popular day over the last four years and it’s a good chance to catch up with friends and raise money for the Daisy Chain charity.”

The Northampton Daisy Chain Club is a charity based in Far Cotton Northampton. Daisy Chain is a social and leisure group for families who have a child with a disability and their siblings. They give all the children in the family opportunities to play, trips out in the county and experience new things in a safe and happy environment.

Rebecca Whiting, from the charity, said: “Daisy Chain are extremely grateful for the support NN4eight are offering us from the Rec Festival. As a small local charity we rely on this type of support. We look forward to seeing you at Rec Festival.”

On the day there will be two chances for children to raise money for Daisy Chain. ‘A Tiny Tots and Teddy Bear Stroll’. This is for children, five years and under and their Teddy Bear to take a stroll/walk around the main arena, older siblings can take part.

There will also be a ‘children’s fun run’. This is for children five years and over and again will be in the main arena.

All money raised by children’s sponsorship will go to Daisy Chain. If anyone would like to take part please email chair@nn4eight.co.uk. All children taking part on the day will receive a small participation medal, to keep.

Also on the day there will be more than 30 stalls, inside Queen Eleanor School also on the park selling items and a number of charities providing information. 13th St Mary’s Scouts will be having a recruitment drive as part of their 90th anniversary year.

There will be a Football match between two local rivals; Far Cotton Loco v The Golden Horse, kick off 12.15pm for the new ‘NN4eight Cup’. There will be a stage with local children’s dance groups performing and a few different performances from Just-Party including characters from Frozen.

In the main arena there will be a; Birds of Prey and a Dog display, a Character Race with Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Fireman Sam, Peppa Pig, Elsa, Olaf and others. There will be a number of children’s inflatable’s and rides on the park on the day.

The main event will finish at 5pm but a bar and hog roast will stay open until 8pm with live music by local musicians on stage until 8.3pm.
