Northampton-based ex-Premier League footballer Darren Purse is getting on his bike to help former England international Geoff Thomas raise £1 million for Cure Leukaemia.
Darren, Director of Football at Malcolm Arnold Academy, is joining blood cancer survivor Geoff on his 500km London 2 Paris ride between June 18 and 22.
The Grange Park resident, who also coaches Rushden & Diamonds Under-18s and oversees the club’s scholarships at the Trinity Avenue school, has only given himself seven weeks to get ride ready.
He said: “I’ll be putting my body through the mire to complete this challenge, so whoever’s out there, if you can give a few pounds, or even a few pennies, to support me for a really worthwhile charity which helps patients beat this terrible disease, it’ll really be appreciated. Just give what you can and I promise to do you proud.”
