A major road in Northampton had to be partially closed this morning so paramedics and the fire service could help the occupant of a car following a collision.

Two lanes of the A45 eastbound at Brackmills, just before Barnes Meadow, were closed by police.

Officers also warned motorists to avoid the area because traffic queues were starting to build up.

The road has since reopened.
