The death of an electrician in Blisworth last year was a tragic accident, a jury ruled this morning.

Christopher Partridge, aged 55, died after he fell from a ladder while attempting to change the bulb in a street lamp at Blisworth Park, Station Road, Blisworth.

The inquest heard Mr Partridge, of Buchanan Close, Briar Hill, Northampton, was attempting to change the bulb at about 10am on January 5, 2011, when there was a sudden flash.

The shock made Mr Partridge fall from his ladder, hitting his head on the pavement.

Mr Partridge died from head injuries, including a fracture at the base of his skull.

Experts told the jury at today’s inquest how the electrical supply in the lamppost had not been isolated.

The jury recorded a verdict of accidental death.

Addressing Mr Partridge’s family, Anne Pember, coroner for Northamptonshire, said: “I am very sorry for you loss and I thank everyone for your kind attention today.”
