Hundreds of readers cast their vote for their favourite chip shop in Northampton with Duston Fish Bar in Main Road, New Duston, coming out on top.

Mrs Pang said: “We want to thank all our customers who voted for us to win Chip Shop of the Year and thanks to the Chronicle & Echo.

“We are very grateful for the support. All our customers are so nice,”

Mr and Mrs Pang, who run Duston Fish Bar with just the support of a couple of part time staff, moved to Northampton in 1992.

They ran the Municipal Market in Abington Vale, before taking over the newsagents in Main Road, Duston.

When they left the newsagents six years ago they didn’t have to move far to the chip shop next door.

The couple work tirelessly around the clock to provide fish and chips to the people of New Duston six days a week day and night.

Mrs Pang said: “We use fresh oil and fresh potatoes. It’s all fresh. The quality is premium so it’s all very good products.”

The couple won the Chip Shop of the Year title after beating off strong competition from 18 others across the town.

As well as serving traditional fish and chips, Duston Fish Bar also serves chicken, burgers, pies and kebabs.

Mr Pang said: “We’re very proud. We’ve worked hard for many years so it’s a big achievement. We put a lot into it.

“We will continue to serve quality fish and chips until we retire.”
