Driver hurt in crash after failing to stop for drink-drive check in Corby

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision which took place in Cottingham Road, Corby, early yesterday morning.

Officers conducting a Christmas drink-drive operation in Cottingham Road indicated for a blue Ford Focus to pull over at about 1am on Sunday, December 11.

The driver failed to do so and instead drove off in the opposite direction, out of sight of the officers.

The officers turned around and followed the direction taken by vehicle, only to find it had hit a wall further along Cottingham Road, near to Richmond Road.

The motorist, a 25-year-old man, was taken to University Hospital Coventry with leg and pelvis injuries.

A front-seat passenger was not injured.

Officers investigating the collision would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it, or who may have any information regarding it.
