Dramatic pictures of driver and passenger's lucky escape from car inferno on M1 near Northampton

Firefighers reckoned a driver and passenger had a miracle escape when their BMW burst into flames on the M1 near Northampton.
The lucky pair scrambled out of the vehicle after being alerted to a problem by an engine management light just seconds before the car turned into an inferno.

Hide AdPhotos posted by the Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service crew from Mereway showed the extent of the damage which destroyed the area where the driver was sitting.
The county fire service revealed the incident happened between Junction 15 and Junction 15A on Monday morning.
An NFRS spokesman said: "Two appliances from Mereway were called to the M1 at 10.30am on Monday after reports of a car fire.
"On arrival at the scene, the crew found that the driver and passenger of a BMW 1 Series had managed to safely stop and exit the vehicle after responding to an engine malfunction light.
