Organisers of next month’s Northampton’s Santa Fun Run & Walk are looking for the dogs to take part in a festive Doggie Dash.
The run, which takes place at Becket’s Park on Sunday, December 13, is raising money for six charities and hundreds of people have so far signed up.
A spokesman for the organisers said: “Santa wannabes have less than four weeks to sign up to take part in this year’s event in aid of six amazing local charities – Cynthia Spencer Hospice, St John Ambulance, The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, Rotary Club of Northampton, The British Red Cross and Northamptonshire Health Charitable Fund.
“The event will kick off at 10.30am after a festive fun warm-up led by local celebrity trainer, Lee Andrew, and there will also be a performance from Starlight Dance & Musical Theatre School, as well as Headlands Primary School choir,” he added.
Hot food and drinks will also be available to purchase on the day.
“Organisers of the Northampton Santa Run & Walk invite runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to dress as Santa and raise funds for charity at Christmas,” the spokesman said.
“Participants who would like to bring their dog can join in too. They will participate on the same course but start towards the back for safety.
“As well as this there will be a best dressed dog competition, so grab their Santa outfit, get ready to impress, and get into the spirit of Christmas for a great cause,” he added.

Event orgainser, Chris Dolan, said: “Our dogs are very much part of the family so it was important for us to invite them along and stretch the legs before we all have to many mince pies and doggie treats.”
