A Frozen-themed event taking place at Wicksteed Park today (Wednesday) is causing very heavy traffic in Barton Road in Kettering and there are reports of motorists queueing on the A14 to get to the event.

The fun day, aimed at children, will see activities like snowman building, making tiaras and shields, igloo building and making mini Olafs as well as the chance to meet Snow Queen Elsa and Princess Anna.

It was due to start at 10am and finish at about 3pm.

Wicksteed Park announced on Twitter that they were at full capacity at about 11.20am, and a reader who was waiting on a bus near the gates said he had seen police officers closing the gates – although there was still heavy traffic along Barton Road.

Northamptonshire Police tweeted: “Event at Wickstead Park now full. Heavy delays on the A14 Eastbound, junction 9. Road at Carina Way will be closed. Avoid the area.”
