Anyone who was part of the class of 1987 at Henry Gotch Senior School is invited to a reunion marking 40 years since they first met.

Clare Robinson, known as Robbo at school, is trying to get as many former classmates together as possible for the reunion on November 14.

A reunion has been organised as a one-off opportunity to take a step back in time to our childhood

She wants to hear from any pupils who started at the secondary school in Kettering in September 1987 and will be turning 40 between September 1, 2015, and August 31, 2016.

Clare said: “As we all reach this milestone in our lives and after much talk of the school years in March on social media, a reunion has been organised as a one-off opportunity to take a step back in time to our childhood and our senior school years in particular.”

People will be able to reminisce over a drink at the reunion, which will also include food and a late retro disco.

Clare said: “If you started in September 1987 and left as a fifth year after GCSEs in July 1992 or after A-levels in 1994, became a big fan of SKA music after a week-long school trip to Normandy, enjoyed having a sing-song around Mr Kemp’s keyboard in music lessons, having a chat to Mr Glover in the art block when you should have been in another lesson, bouncing a basket aimlessly in the sports hall and enjoyed making copper sulphate crystal with Doc Lewis in science, then this evening is for you.”

Even if people are unable to attend, Clare would like to hear from anyone who has any memorabilia, including school reports, newsletters, photographs or school uniform from this time or ideally a copy of the famous silver griffin in a maroon circle which was their identity at the time.

All teachers who taught at the school during these years are also welcome to go along and join former colleagues for the evening.

The reunion is being held on Saturday, November 14, at a venue in Kettering.

It is an all ticket event and not a drop-in function.

Tickets cost £33 and are available from Clare.
