A possible route has been drawn up for part of a new link road between the A508 and A43 near Northampton.
A developer, Roundhill Northampton, has revealed its proposal ahead of a public consultation excercise later this year.
The route curves from the The Holcot Road junction with Boughton Fair Lane through five different fields until it meets the A43.
Roundhill has bought or has options on all the plots and says it can deliver the land as soon as Northamptonshire County Council wants to go ahead.
Oliver Roper, the company director, said: “Our proposals are far enough out of Moulton that it protects the village from developments that will inevitably spring up along the route.
“We are a local developer and, as such, we are more accountable to parish councils and residents. We think this proposal wil satisfy most people and provide some relief to the coming congestion.”
Any approved route would be part of a scheme to link the A508 to the A43.
The first stage in the overall new Chapel Brampton-Moulton scheme will be a public consultation in the autumn.
People will be able to comment on which route they would prefer the highway to take, and it is likely there will be three options.
Informed by public opinion, one of the routes would then come before county council cabinet members for approval in early 2016.
A planning application would come next, then funding would need to be sought.
