Demolition of part of the Sixfields Tavern has begun.
Most of the building was gutted more than a week ago due to intense flames, which were caused by an electrical fault, whipped up by high winds.
But the dining area, although suffering water damage to fixtures and fittings, was largely untouched by the fire.
The rest of the building will be flattened by the end of the week ready for a rebuild.
Members of staff have been redistributed to other Northampton pubs in the same Hungry Horse chain, such as the Queen Eleanor and The Lumbertubs.
