Delapre Abbey to host Battle of Northampton re-enactment festival in July
Organised by The Delapre Abbey Preservation Trust, the festival will take place over two days, starting on Saturday July 9.
Community engagement officer Vikki Pearson said: “The Abbey will once more be playing host to the Harrington Company and the Guns of St Barbara for a full programme of medieval activities and displays throughout the weekend including archery demonstrations, medieval Come Dine with Me, an essential Guide to the Battle with key scenes being enacted by the Harrington Company and the Guns of St. Barbara, a firepower display of medieval cannon and artillery, the thrilling Knight’s Tournament of Foot and the chance for children to train to be Kiddie Knights!

Hide Ad“Alongside a living history medieval encampment and hands-on children’s activities there will be also be exhibitions, talks and walks with members of the Northampton Battlefield Society.
“The society has just been awarded the Battlefields Trust’s Presidents Award for outstanding battlefield preservation, conservation and interpretation and will be formally presented with the award by Sir Robert Worcester, whose ancestors lived in Northamptonshire in the 15th century, at the event at 11 am on the Saturday,” she added.
All the action takes place on the South Lawn at Delapré Abbey and will be open from 11am to 5pm on the Saturday and 11am to 4pm on the Sunday.
