Stars of this year’s pantomime at The Deco Theatre in Northampton say audiences can expect a production filled with music, laughs and lavish costumes.
Cast members of Beauty and the Beast, including former Coronation Street star Nicholas Cochrane, were at the Northampton theatre on Thursday to talk about the show, which will run from December 11 to 29.
Mr Cochrane, said: “I’ve never stayed in Northampton before, I’ve only ever passed through, but I’ve done a lot of pantos before and they’re always a laugh. This is going to be good fun, and the theatre here is gorgeous.”
Former Crossroad star Angela Webb, who will play the Spirit of the Rose, said pantomimes were great occasions for the whole family.
She said: “I love doing panto just to see how the kids get involved, they don’t hold back and their reactions give you instant feedback while you are on the stage. I think the kids are really going to love the costumes this year, and seeing their faces light up when they see them is always something really magical.”
Tony Howes, an actor who lives in Northampton, said he was looking forward to appearing on stage in his home town.
He said: “It’s really nice to be back in town with old friends, this is my 28th panto and the cast are always fun at Christmas. It’s nice to welcome the new younger actors too, this year is going to be great fun.”
Others famous faces in the cast include former Hollyoaks actor Karl James Wilson and Kim Taylforth, who appeared in ITV’s Bad Girls.
