The death of a male student at the University of Northampton is not being treated as suspicious, a police spokesman has said.

Emergency services were called to Park Campus in Boughton Green Road at 6pm on Thursday after reports that a man’s body had been found.

The man, believed to be 18 or 19 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. A report has been prepared for the coroner.

A spokeswoman for the University of Northampton said the university, along with the students’ union, is “deeply saddened” by the loss of one of the students.

The spokeswoman said: “We would like to express our condolences to the student’s family, who we are helping to support at this difficult time.

“We are also providing support for students and staff who have been affected via our student services, multi-faith chaplaincy and students’ union teams.”
