Northampton Borough Council will once again run the popular Delapre Beer Festival at Delapre Park this month.

The event will take place in the beautiful surroundings of Delapre Park, and will run from Thursday May 29 to Saturday May 31, featuring over 200 beers, 90 ciders, country wines, gin and locally sourced food as well as playing some live music.

Around 8,000 people attended last year’s festival and after receiving feedback from customers, this year’s event will feature additional seating areas, a traditional band stand and improved entry systems.

Among the beers on offer to sample, there will be various award winning titles, including ‘Beijing Black’, brewed by Kettering based brewery Potbelly, which won ‘Supreme Champion’ at the SIBA National Beer Competition in 2006.

And Phipps NBC will celebrate its return to brewing in the town with an exhibition stand at the event. Last month, the company started brewing in Northampton again after an absence of more than four decades.

Councillor Brandon Eldred, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for community engagement, said: “After the success of last year’s beer festival drawing in 8,000 people, this year’s event is set to be even better.

“We took on board feedback from last year’s event about the highlights and areas which we could improve on and we hope that everyone will enjoy another three day festival, sampling some of the best beers in the country as well as a full programme of live music.”

Councillor David Mackintosh, leader of Northampton Borough Council, said: “We are very much looking forward to running the Delapre Beer Festival again after stepping in last year to save it from being cancelled.

“The festival has always been very popular with locals, so we are delighted to be able to host it again and give everyone the opportunity to enjoy Delapre Park at this fun family event.”

The Delapre Beer Festival will run in partnership with the Wig & Pen from Thursday May 29, 4–10pm, Friday May 30, 11am–10pm and Saturday May 31, 11am–10pm.

Further details about the upcoming Delapre Beer Festival will be announced over the next few weeks.
