Data firm set to move to purpose-built base in Northampton

A cable manufacturing firm has submitted plans to move its Northampton base across town to a new site.

HellermanTyton, which has offices in Salthouse Road, Brackmills, and has clients such as Sky and Vodafone, has put in a planning application for a newly-prepared plot in Edgar Mobbs Way, opposite Wrefords Transport.

It will see the construction of a manufacturing and warehouse space with offices attached.

The plan states: “[The new site] will provide valuable employment opportunities thus improving the economic profile of the wider area.

“Both the developer and his consultant team are absolutely committed to providing a building of the highest quality.”

Commenting on the general trend of large firms moving within the town, Steven Boyes, Northampton Borough Council’s director of planning, said: “Retaining large employers here is as important as attracting new ones, and I’m always pleased to do that.”

HellermannTyton describes itself as “a leading supplier of products for fastening, fixing, identifying and protecting cables”.

About 110 staff will move to the new building, and there will be parking spaces for 76 cars.
