Kyle Conlee Epps, 22, of Louise Road, in the town centre, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and another charge of driving without insurance at Northampton Magistrates' Court this morning.

On October 19, he was being pursued by police in a Ford KA and at one point in St Edmunds Street, off Wellingborough Road, he mounted a kerb to avoid being caught.

Prosecutor Chris Trotter said the charge was too serious to be sentenced by JPs and asked for it to be committed to the crown court.

He said: "This is an incident of dangerous driving in the context of a police pursuit.

"It is high speed in a built up area, it is prolonged bad driving.

"At one point he mounts a kerb and overtakes a line of traffic."
