Woman followed and sexually assaulted in Northampton town centre

A woman was followed by a man in Northampton town centre and sexually assaulted, police have reported today.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police on the 101 number.

The incident happened between 3am and 3.30am on Sunday September 18.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “A woman, walking down Bridge Street, noticed she was being followed and sat on a wall hoping that the person would walk past her.

“However, the man sat next to her, touched her leg, her neck and pulled her hair. The woman then made a call on her mobile phone and walked away.

“The offender is described as a 5ft 9in Asian man in his 30s, of medium build, with short black hair, clean shaven and wearing a black shirt,” the spokesman added.
