Vehicle smashes into pedestrian crossing at busy Northampton junction

Traffic was disrupted at a major junction in Northampton this afternoon after a vehicle smashed into a pedestrian crossing.

The white vehicle collided with the signal controls on a pedestrian crossing at the Bedford Road junction with Cliftonville, near Northampton General Hospital.

PC Will Corlett from Northamptonshire Police tweeted at around 2.30pm that recovery was on its way to the scene.

At around 3.45pm PC Corlett added: “Sorry for the disruption on Cliftonville and Bedford Rd folks, traffic now running normally and lane closures lifted.”
