Teenager robbed of bike and phone then thrown in lake in Northampton park

A teenager was robbed of personal items and pushed into a lake in Northampton, police have confirmed.

The incident happened yesterday (May 28) at around 6pm at the main lake in Abington Park.

The 17-year-old had his bike, phone and a pair of gloves stolen and was then thrown into the water by two other boys.

The robbery happened on the same lake where police where police carried a planned search yesterday, which involved specialist divers looking for illegal items and substances.However the incident was unrelated and happened after the diving team had left.

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police said: "At about 6pm yesterday (May 28), a 17-year-old boy was robbed by two other boys which involved him being thrown into the pond in Abington Park.

"The following items were stolen: A black Carrera mountain bike with ‘TKK’ written on the side, a red iPhone 7, black Calvin Klein gloves.

"We’ve identified a 16-year-old boy suspected to be involved."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is urged to call police on 101.
