Teenage girl sexually assaulted in Northampton after being grabbed and pulled away from street

A man grabbed a teenage girl walking in Northampton, put his hand over her mouth and pulled away from the road before sexually assaulting her, police have said.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said the incident happened on Friday March 11 between 6.35pm and 7pm.

The 19-year-old victim got off a bus in Acre Lane and walked towards the community centre. A man stopped her, put his hand over her mouth and pulled her around the corner, where he sexually assaulted her.

“The woman started to scream and the offender ran off, possibly over the fields,” he said.

The offender is described by police as white, about 19 years old, medium build, with short black hair. He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a zip-up black hooded top and trainers. He was carrying a black ‘man bag’ with the strap across his chest.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the incident and anyone with any information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
