Robbers held down Northampton OAP with a cloth in her mouth after claiming to be water board workers

Vile robbers held down a Northampton pensioner and placed a cloth in her mouth before ransacking her house in a quiet cul-de-sac.

Two men broke in through the back door of a home in Moulton, on Saturday March 5 at 9.30pm, by smashing a pane of glass and using a key that was already in the door to walk in.

But when they got inside the home they were confronted by a woman in her late 60s.

They initially told her they were workers from Anglian Water, but when there cover was blown they became aggressive and held down the woman.

The robbers then placed a cloth over the woman’s mouth.

A police spokeswoman said the men searched the rest of the property, but it is understood nothing else was taken.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
