"In early to see the last of nights going home and days starting. I’ve had to write to 4 officers this morning who have been assaulted, spat at and urine thrown at them. Absolute disgrace #dutysupt #protecttheprotectors," he said.

He was supported by a spokesman for Northamptonshire Police on their main account: "Awful. Our police officers do not deserve to be treated like this #NotPartOfTheJob"

Last month, Chief Constable Nick Adderley highlighted the case of a Northamptonshire Police who had to self-isolate after being spat at and said actions like this would not be tolerated.
