Officers were called to a block of flats at around 11pm yesterday (January 16).

Today (January 17), he remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Inspector Johnny Campbell, said: “Our task at the moment is to try and ascertain how this man’s injuries were caused.

“At this point we cannot rule out an assault and are therefore asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area last night to come forward.

“We are specifically asking for a male who was seen by witnesses appearing to help the injured man on the floor to come forward as he may be able to help us understand how the man came to be there.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day."
