Mum and two young children held at knifepoint during robbery in Northampton home

A mother and her two children were held at knifepoint after a gang of four armed robbers broke into their Northampton house in the early hours of the morning.

Holly Park says she no longer feels safe in her house after the robbers used a crowbar to jam open a downstairs window and then stole a number of items.

The 33-year-old said she was held at knifepoint with her two young children while the men searched the house in Military Road, The Mounts, at about 4.20am on Saturday, October 8.

The robbers stole a number of items including cash, a Playstation and a designer handbag.

Miss Park said the incident had resulted in her suffering regular panic attacks and had affected her children.

She said: “The first I heard was crashing noises downstairs and I went down to investigate and I saw men wearing balaclavas carrying huge knives coming towards me.

“Two men then held us hostage for 20 minutes while they searched the house.

“I don’t fee safe in this house now. My children have probably been affected for life.”

Police officers and forensic investigators visited the house on the morning of the robbery. Miss Park said she wanted the police to fit alarms on her windows, but was disappointed that nothing had done.

The family was on holiday for five days last week but returned on Friday. Miss Park said she called the police 15 times over the weekend to try to get an officer to come out and see her, but had not had any response from the force.

Miss Park, said: “I feel really let down by the police. The whole weekend I have felt vulnerable.

“I feel like they should be looking after me.”

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police said an investigation was being carried out into the robbery.

The spokeswoman said: “Police and forensic officers attended the incident and an investigation into what happened is taking place.

“All victims of crime are offered support via Voice, the victim and witness service for Northamptonshire, and we consider all appropriate safety measures on a case-by-case basis to help and protect victims of crime.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have any information about this incident. Witnesses or anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
