A mob of around 70 people gathered on playing field in Daventry anticipating a fight
A crowd of around 70 people gathered for a fight on a Daventry estate, while just up the road a community meeting was taking place to discuss crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.
The people gathered on the Fishponds playing field on the Southbrook estate on Wednesday evening.
Police believe some of them had arranged a fight while the rest turned up to watch.
The crowd dispersed before any punches were thrown.
At the same time residents of the estate were meeting just a few hundred yards away with councillors and the police to discuss problems regarding crime, litter and anti-social behaviour on the Southbrook.
In recent months the estate has suffered from incidents of antisocial behaviour, trouble on the Fishponds field, motorbikes being ridden on footpaths, tyres being slashed, and rubbish being dumped.
