Men trick their way into Northamptonshire home of elderly woman

Two men talked their way into the house of an elderly woman before stealing items from inside the property.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the distraction burglary in Priory Road, Wellingborough, sometime between 11.30pm and midnight on Thursday, March 10.

Anyone with information or who saw anything can contact Northamptonshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A police spokesman said: “We are urging people to be vigilant and advise people never to open the door to anyone they are not expecting.

“People are encouraged to pass this advice on to friends, relatives and neighbours, in particular those who are elderly or more vulnerable, and to remember the key advice: If you’re not sure, don’t open the door.”
