The victim, who was in a white Mercedes ML, was driving eastbound between Kettering and Rothwell shortly after 1pm on Friday (April 1) when the driver of a grey BMW 320D - who was allegedly driving very close behind the Mercedes - gestured to the driver to pull over.

The Mercedes driver continued along the A14 and, just before the Rothwell Lodge cottages, the BMW pulled in front of the Mercedes driver, causing him to swerve on to the grass verge.

Both men got out of their cars and the driver of the BMW shouted at the victim before getting a cricket bat out of his boot.
