Man to appear in court over death of much-loved Corby grandmother

A Northampton man will appear before magistrates on Monday (February 3) charged with death by dangerous driving.

Polish national Patryk Gowarzewski, 31, will make his first court appearance in Northampton to answer the charge relating to a crash that he is accused of causing on the A43.

Mum-of-two Sylvia Best, 85, was a passenger in a blue Hyundai that was involved in a collision with a white Citroen Relay van driven by Gowarzewski at Broughton, just south of Kettering on January 30, 2019.

She was airlifted to hospital in Coventry but died on February 1 last year. Her funeral was held at the church she attended, St John The Baptist in Corby Old Village.
