Police are appealing for a safe return of irreplaceable items stolen from bereaved parents during a burglary Northampton.

Thieves broke into a house in Hembury Place, Briar Hill, on Tuesday (March 10) and took a significant amount of jewellery – including two lockets containing a photo of the victim's late son and a lock of his hair.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "The unknown offender or offenders forced entry into the property via the rear sometime between 5pm and 8.15pm on Tuesday.

"Once inside they stole a significant amount of jewellery including gold charms, rings, earrings and necklaces as well as 40 bottles of perfume.

A "lot of the jewellery is irreplaceable due to its sentimental value with two of the two lockets containing a photo of the victim’s late son and a lock of his hair.
