Fresh appeal for information surrounding long-term disappearance of teenager who grew up in Northamptonshire

Jaime Cheesman was 16 years old when she was reported missing in early November 1993, having disappeared from an address in Comber Place, Grimsby.

Jaime, who would now be 39, grew up in Wellingborough and moved to Grimsby to live with her best friend a few months prior to her disappearance.

She travelled regularly between the two towns and, according to her family, the week she went missing she left Wellingborough with her friend’s father and another man to travel to Grimsby to sign on.

Inquiries undertaken previously suggested that after Jaime’s return to her Grimsby home in Comber Place, she may have become involved in a disagreement and left.

She did not return and she has not been seen since.

The last confirmed sighting of Jaime was on November 2, 1993, when she attended to make a benefit claim in Grimsby.

Det Chief Insp Phil Gadd of Humberside Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit said: “Despite previous extensive police inquiries and appeals for information, what happened to Jamie remains unknown and a source of great anxiety to her family.

“Her father has described Jaime as an outgoing girl with quite a few friends and feels certain that someone knows something about what happened to her.

“While we believe there is a possibility that Jaime may still be in the Grimsby area, she was known to have connections with the Travelling community in Northamptonshire and may have adopted this lifestyle in either area.

“A renewed appeal for information is made as further local inquiries are undertaken in the Comber Place area of Grimsby.

“We will be carrying out an extensive forensic examination of Jaime’s last known address and the surrounding area in order to piece together her last known movements.

“We will also be reviewing and revisiting the extensive work already carried out by Northamptonshire Police with the aim of identifying any new possible lines of inquiry to help us to establish the whereabouts of Jaime for her family and friends.

“We would really like to hear from Jaime or from anyone who knew her in 1993.

“Perhaps you know something about her disappearance, where she may have been over the last 22 years, or the background to her life in Grimsby prior to her going missing?
