Former Northampton man who downloaded indecent images of '˜very young' children avoids jail

Shaun Wallis, aged 31, was arrested after police executed a search warrant at his address in Watermeadow Drive, Northampton, in June last year.

His computer was seized and a number of indecent images of children were discovered as well as other photos depicting extreme pornographic scenes.

Stephen Moore, prosecuting, said analysis of the computer revealed Wallis had also searched for indecent images of children.

Mr Moore said a number of the images were of the most serous category A and involved children of a very young age.

Investigators believe Wallis had been downloading the indecent images for a “substantial” period of time.

Wallis pleaded guilty to four charges of making indecent images of children and one charge of possessing extreme pornography.

Judge Michael Fowler, prosecuting, said Wallis had come “within a whisker” of being sent to jail.

Judge Fowler said; “You were downloading images that were of the most distasteful sort involving very young infants in the most obscene, indecent episodes.”

Wallis, now of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, was ordered to complete the three-year Sexual Offenders Programme.

He will have to sign the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to notification requirements for the next five years.
