Five landlords charged with running HMOs in Northampton without a licence

Five landlords operating have been charged with running eight HMOs in Northampton without a licence and along with 145 breaches of the Housing Act between them.

The extensive list of charges include allegedly operating a HMO without a licence, failing to provide fire alarms, or keeping the structure of the houses in a state of repair.

More than half of all of them - a total of 84 - have been brought against Faiz Hameed, 55, of Grange Lane, Pitsford, for breaches involving all eight of the HMOs set to be heard at Northampton Magistrates' Court today (October 19).

The other four landlords, who have all also been charged with being the controller/manager of a HMO without a licence, include:

Muzahir Hameed, 27, of Grange Lane, Pitsford - 40 counts of counts of failing to comply with the Housing Act, including three counts of operating a HMO without a licence, in respect of 666 Obelisk Rise, 62 Chalcombe Avenue and 40 Aynho Crescent.

Victoria Cebotari, 36, of Icknield Drive, Northampton - 14 counts of failing to comply with the Housing Act, including two counts of operating a HMO without a licence, in respect of 120 Hinton Road and 77 Hinton Road, Kingsthorpe.

Waheed Ahmed, 43, of Stapleton, Bristol - 15 counts of failing to comply with regulations, including one count of operating a HMO without a licence, in respect of 666 Obelisk Rise, NN2 8SZ.

Ahmed Saeed, 24, of Dixon Road, Northampton - 13 counts of failing to comply with the housing act, including one count of operating a HMO without a licence, in respect of 36 Culworth Crescent, Sunnyside.

Houses in Multiple Occupancy are properties where at least three tenants live there and share facilities like toilets, bathrooms and kitchens.

The eight HMOs that have been allegedly operated without a licence are: 666 Obelisk Rise, Kingsthorpe; 526 Obelisk Rise, Kingsthorpe; 120 Hinton Road, Kingsthorpe; 77 Hinton Road, Kingsthorpe; 62 Chalcombe Avenue, Kingsthorpe; 42 Kingsland Avenue, Kingsthorpe; 40 Aynho Crescent; 36 Culworth Crescent, Sunnyside.
