Detectives turn to CCTV clue in bid to solve riddle over Northampton assault

Victim attacked in Semilong then driven away...but police still do not know who he was

Police trying to solve the mystery of an assault in Northampton last Friday have issued an CCTV image of a man they think could have key information.

Detectives have still not identified the victim who was attacked in Semilong before getting into the suspect's car which then sped away from the scene.

And they are have launched a fresh appeal for the anyone with information or who recognises the man in the image to call 101 quoting incident number 20000259793.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The victim was attacked at about 5.30pm last Friday, May 22, at the top of Northcote Street, near to the junction with Semilong Road.

"He was last seen entering the suspect’s car — believed to be a white BMW — which then drove off at speed along Semilong Road.

"The victim is described as black and aged 16 or 17.

"If there is anyone who wants to come forward with information in confidence, they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
