Corby paedophile caught out by undercover police officer
The officer posed as young girl
An undercover police officer caught a Corby paedophile who sent sickening messages to what he thought was a young girl.
William Hosegood, 36, pleaded guilty to attempted sexual communication with a child under 16 over the contact which took place between June 25 and July 28 last year.
He thought he was speaking to a girl named Holly and sent her vile images of himself as well as inciting her to perform a sex act.
But his messages were in fact sent to an undercover officer and he was later arrested.
Hosegood, of Lake Drive on the Priors Hall estate, will now have to register as a sex offender at the Corby Cube.
Magistrates granted him bail and he will be sentenced at Northampton Crown Court on June 4.
■ We understand that some people may be angry or upset to see their name published here but covering court cases acts as a deterrent against crime and it is important that justice is being seen to be done.
Under English Law, it is a general principle that criminal court proceedings for adults should be held openly and in public. Verdicts and sentences are normally given out in open court and so are in the public domain. Newspapers such as ours therefore have the right to publish outcomes of all such criminal court cases.
