BREAKING NEWS: Northampton murder victim named as police reveal he was stabbed to death

The man whose body was discovered at his home in Northampton has been named by police who revealed he was stabbed to death.

A post mortem examination confirmed 56-year-old David Miller died as a result of stab wounds.

Five people remain in police custody today, as detectives continue to investigate the murder.

Officers attended the property in Boothville, at about 5am yesterday (Tuesday, June 14) following a call from a member of the public.

Three men from Northampton aged 30, 49 and 57 and one woman from Northampton, aged 35 were arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

A 27-year-old woman from Northampton was also arrested yesterday on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in police custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Hemmingway, leading the murder enquiry, said: “I want to appeal to the public for information and anyone who witnessed anything suspicious.

“I want to hear from anyone who knew David, what his lifestyles and routines were like, whether they had any recent contact with David.

“I’m especially keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Patterdale Walk or Oasis House in Campbell Street, Northampton town centre, between Friday (10 June) evening and Monday (13 June).

“While we have made arrests in the case, I’m still keen to speak to anyone who may have any information that could assist the investigation.”

A scene guard remains at Patterdale Walk and is likely to be there for some time.

Northamptonshire Police has today voluntarily referred the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPPC) for them to investigate the Force’s response to reports of the murder.
